Yes, we’ve used Phone Tagg with phones, GPS devices and tablets. They only requirement is that the device weight is 1 pound or less.
Yes it is. However, devices containing magnetic hard drive technology should not be affixed to Phone Tagg as data corruption could occur—mobile phones and GPS devices do not contain such hard drive technology. The Phone Tagg should not be brought near cardiac pacemakers as the magnet contained in the Phone Tagg may affect these devices.
This video demonstrates how to attach your Phone Tagg and ensure it doesn’t swing around when your vehicle moves.
1. With the rubber coated magnet facing you, bend the top hook area towards you at a 90-degree angle (as shown in the illustration below) such that when attached to vertical shaft, it hangs down vertically as close to the back of the mirror as possible.
2. Now hook the top of the Phone Tagg onto the vertical shaft with the rubber coated magnet facing you, and allow it to hang behind the mirror as shown in the illustrations below.
With the rubber coated magnet facing you, hook the Phone Tagg behind rear view mirror as shown in the illustrations below.
Your Phone Tagg has an anti-swing device to secure it in place while your vehicle is moving. Attach the anti-swing device behind your Phone Tagg at location A, at an angle, as shown in the illustration below. Clean the back of your mirror at location B with an alcohol wipe and allow to dry. Engage the included Velcro dot provided to the B side of the anti-swing device. Peel the liner from the dot and adhere it to location B behind the mirror.
Only if you are not using a case on your phone. If you are using a case, you can place the metal plate between the back of your phone and your case, then put the case back on and you’re ready to go.
It may also be possible to adhere the metal plate to the outside of your cell phone protective case. In some instances, depending on the material that the case is made from, the metal plate may not adhere adequately to the outside of the case.
We have done extensive testing on many models of cell phones and found that on one or two older models we had difficulty getting great adhesion between the metal plate and the back of the phone. In this case, you will need to use a protective case on your phone which will eliminate the need to adhere the plate to your phone. You simply place the metal plate behind the phone between the phone and the case. No need to adhere the plate to anything as the case will hold it in place.
Wireless charging will not work as long as the metal plate remains between the charging pad and the phone. You will need to charge your device using the charging wire.
